While I only introduced myself in the previous blog, it is now time to dive deeper into what exactly affiliate marketing is why I decided to start with affiliate marketing!
What is affiliate marketing
Okay, so what is affiliate marketing? Well, affiliate marketing is a form of marketing that lets you promote other people’s products or services. In return, you will be rewarded with a commission. So, when the person youâre promoting the product for sells that product because of you, you will receive compensation for your efforts in the form of money.
This commission is usually a predetermined percentage of the value of the product youâre offering. The amount of money you can earn is therefore dependent on a) how expensive the product is and b) the percentage of that value youâre getting as a commission.
Always make sure you promote products with a good commission! When you do this, affiliate marketing will be a great and honest way to make money online! After all, both you and the actual seller of the product will profit since youâre both making money and your customer will be happy with the product. Iâd call that a win-win-win situation đ
Making money with affiliate marketing vs. webshops
A very important difference between making money with affiliate marketing and with products from my own webshops is that I donât have to make a big investment in a stock of products. You donât need to buy any products, rent a warehouse to store the products, and pack the products to send them to your customers. Additionally, you donât have to pay for shipping costs (or return costs) or offer customer support. Sounds pretty amazing, right?
Of course, that doesnât mean that owning your own webshop with products wonât be fun to do. On the contrary! I really love the contact I have with my customers! However, I definitely donât like everything that I have to do. And some things just cost a lot of time and money without getting the results Iâm hoping for. Thatâs why I think that making money with affiliate marketing will be absolutely great! I canât wait to actually start with this new challenge and earn my first commission!
The Iceberg Effect
Youâre probably wondering âhow do I even beginâ? Well, let me tell you how it began for me. I was just aimlessly scrolling through Facebook until I suddenly came across an advertisement that really caught my attention:
âLearn the untold secrets that most affiliate marketers donât know and the Guruâs donât tell you aboutâ.
It turned out to be a reference to the book by Dean Holland called âThe Iceberg Effectâ. To be completely honest with you, I had my doubts at first⌠Would someone really want to honestly share their experiences? Nevertheless, it wouldnât let me go. Thatâs why Iâve set this first goal for myself: get 1 commission. I will be happy if I achieve this first goal, no matter how high the commission will be (even if itâs just $1!).
